New updates to MeDeploy have gone live today including most notably, our new re-designed Dashboard. Special thanks to all our users for their feedback in making the dashboard more powerful and easier to navigate.
MeDeploy v1.3 Updates:
- MeDeploy Dashboard Redesigned
- New “Duplicate Title” feature - Add a new title to MeDeploy using a previous title’s metadata, trailer and coverart (A great time-saver for adding multiple TV episodes or offering a film in multiple formats)
- New metadata field options for TV episodes
- New features for distributing your titles to affiliate digital stores
- New distribution feature for getting an iFrame storefront widget for any of your titles with a single click
- Updated features for adding a storefront widget to Widgetbox
- Expanded features for building full-featured storefronts.
- Expanded sales and revenue reporting. See full details on who is purchasing your content
- Expanded “Export to Excel” sales and revenue reporting
Also, look for new tutorial videos to be added to the dashboard support area this week reflecting the new dashboard redesign and features.

MeDeploy’s v1.2 updates were launched this week and includes direct support for launching viral movie distribution widgets powered by our new partner Widgetbox.
Widgetbox™ helps people express, connect, create and inform using web widgets that can be easily shared and distributed anywhere on the web. What are web widgets?

We are excited to announce we have launched some major updates to MeDeploy today including most notably, MeDeploy Indie is now FREE! Many of our updates came from feedback from our users. We are listening and dig the feedback. Keep it coming!
MeDeploy v1.2 Updates:
- MeDeploy Indie is now FREE
- Trailers are now transcoded in hi-rez H.264
- Trailer resolution and playback size increased (Over twice the playback size!)
- All trailer are now delivered via “Edge” CDN delivery for much faster and higher quality playback
- Widgetbox powered “Viral Distribution” Web Widgets can now be automatically generated from within MeDeploy (No more manually building viral sales widgets!)
- Expanded Sales Reporting
- MeDeploy Indie can now generate 5 API Keys (previously 2) allowing for distribution to be launched across more locations around the net (MeDeploy Professional is Unlimited)
- Easier to use “Quick-Deploy” features for “no technical expertise needed” copy/paste distribution
- some minor tweaks and bug squashing

MeDeploy is proud to announce that its API now supports both OpenSocial and Widgetbox allowing digital movie distribution to go viral and social.
MeDeploy + OpenSocial = Social Movie Distribution
OpenSocial is a programming model that empowers developers to build universally accepted applications to launch on Social Networks such as MySpace, imeem, Ning, Hi5, orkut, Friendster and many others. Sitting in the hotel room, iPod blasting (The Dandy Warhols), trying to anti-prepare for our presentation of MeDeploy. It’s an exciting day! First up will be my presentation at 10:42 PST this morning, then we’ll begin flipping some switches, turning MeDeploy on for all. My guess is that the final switch will be pulled this afternoon so watch for the “Get Started” registration link on MeDeploy.com to go live today.
More to come throughout the day and next as we share our experiences of DEMOfall 08!

What’s our story? Where did MeDeploy come from? These are just some of the common questions we are asked… with a pretty straight forward response. There was a need and we filled it. Having a web development company based inside a movie studio that catered to indy film makers while working with our clients in the movie and media industry was definitely a catalyst. Being a movie junkie and having independent film makers for friends helps.
MeDeploy is more than just a technology it is about getting the content out there to the consumer. When I first started researching the industry I came across article after article with titles like “Where’s the Content”. With YouTube having approximately 67,000 unique viewers a month and 3.8 million streams… it seemed pretty evident to us that people wanted to watch content…but maybe were ready for something a little more exciting then “cat playing with ball”.
Premium content, of all kinds; feature length, shorts, animation, great documentaries, concerts, training videos… is worth a value and is in need, not only to the rights holders of the content but for those looking for something…more. Great independent films get dusty waiting to be picked up for distribution, squandering the talents of some great film visionaries.
We are passionate about MeDeploy, not just for the technology but as movie lovers… I’m looking for the next Vincent Gallo masterpiece…. maybe it won’t be that hard to find?

My Frap & Phone

There are worse places to be working. Sitting by the Marina in San Diego in the sunshine (what’s that?) and have an ice cold Starbucks Frap….yummy…
My paper white skin acts more like a reflective surface than skin really… I don’t know what I’m going to do with the overload of Vitamin D… but after being inside all summer working, I’ve got to say this is a nice change of pace.
All the work for DEMO leading to this moment seems to be vanishing from my memory with every passing seagull. Thank you DEMO for picking such a fantastic setting for a bunch of people who don’t get outside much. Is that the smell of gardenias…ahh.. one for my hair, thank you very much!
Of course I won’t be able to enjoy it too long for fear of bursting into flames and not being able to enjoy the rest of the conference, but for now…sipping on the frap…I will put my feet up, go over the itinerary one more time, check my messages, and watch some seagulls.

It’s not everyday you get to send something you’ve created into the world. For better or worse, something you have spent 2 years of your life working on, building and strategizing about and all for this moment…launch.
So here I sit at Quinn’s Mooring at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina grabbing something to eat before Christian and I go into a rehearsal for DEMOfall thinking about what this all means. Most of all I think it is a testament of what determination and hard work will get you. I think it is also a testament to all the people who have supported us and believed in us. Saying thank you (repeatedly) really just doesn’t cover it. But I will continue to thank them every chance I get.
I gotta tell ya though, being here is really exciting…71 other companies, all chasing the dream, all trying to get their piece of the pie. It’s pretty damn cool. Meeting folks, talking about their products, catching DEMO fever… What can I say but, WOW.
I know that alot of people won’t ever know what I am talking about, but there are some who do… and if I’m lyin’ I’m dyin’… I wouldn’t want to do anything else. The adrenaline rush alone is addicting and so is all the caffeine… although I am going to try and cut back… right after DEMO…. maybe.

My Grandparents

So many times we have been asked why we do what we do… there is a long answer and a short answer the short one being…it’s in our blood.
We come from a long line of entrepreneurs and when you grow up in an atmosphere of “determine your own destiny” it’s hard to imagine doing anything else. This is not to say that I (personally) didn’t enjoy working in large organizations or learn how the “system” works, but I also learned what not to do. I enjoy “making it happen”…the way we want it.
I have a photo of my grandfather in front of his first store, he’s standing looking very proud…with a not bad for an immigrant look on his face. That kind of determination and ingrained work ethic is not something you can just disregard. When you can stand back and look at what you built with your 2 hands, the pride and passion you feel is not something that can be had with working for the “man”. My father, who I started working for when I was 13, always said why work hard for someone else, when you can work hard for yourself and you can make things happen.
So when someone asks why? With stress filled days, sleepless nights pacing the floors, cradling and smoothing out issues. With all that being said, MeDeploy is akin to a child. We gave birth to it, nurtured it and watched it grow into its’ own identity… I’m so proud (puffy chest moment, tears welling) and I think my grandfather and father would be too.
